KARACHI - A TOPSY-TURVY MAZE!

A city with over 23 million of population, being The Largest City Of The State & World's 2nd Largest City with respect to population within city limits.

As a matter of fact, the city daily meets to various kind of negativities from terrorism, extortion, political unrest, land grabbing, underworld mafias, gangwars & etc, in simple words - a mismanaged city.

Alongwith the extensive growth rate of population, the city also faces an annual growth of nearly 8% in its traffic; making a Topsy-Turvy maze for the Citizens to dare with routine travelling.

Its unfortunate that non of the governments had ever owned the problems of the city specially and particularly transportation. Its shameful to mention here that Karachi has been recognised as world's largest city with no Mass-Transit System; indeed we are a nuclear state but failed to provide prpoer transportation facilities to citizens.

Absence of master plans, unwilling leadership, public's distrust on traffic controlling agencies & unawareness with rules & regulations have resulted in a terrible traffic scene which is being faced by every citizen everyday.

The major segments in the transportation disaster includes the encroachments, illegal car parkings, unauthorised motorcycle rikshaw a.k.a Ching'chi, ancient public busses having fake fitness certificates, fraudulent driving license, out of route bus stops, garbage pits, unavailability of pedestrian bridges where required, illegal road blockades & other similar events.

However, the core responsibility to manage all such issues belongs to the regulators i.e The Traffic Police Department, Transportation Ministry & The Governments; but to do this there should be a goodwill & sincere intention, which both are far ahead of said administrators.

Several projects in the name of Mass-Transit, Circular Railway, Signal Free Corridors, Rapid Bus Transit Routes are aready to be started, but unfortunately our governments not willing to move beyond the feasibility reports as their intentions based on tenders, corruption & possible personal financial advantages to get fetched from budgeted costs.

Recently, Karachi Traffic Police department decided to change the uniform of the traffic controllers from "Corrupted White" to "Sophisticated Grey" to give them a fresh clean look.
For The Citizens, The Old White Uniform used to be " A symbol of Corruption & Bribery", We hope that concerned officials will also transform the typical mindset of the policemen, their behaviour, attitudes & make them well trained with social norms.

Just A Change in outfit not matters to the masses if our Traffic Police is not willing to change their mindset.
A qoute of world famous political activist, a writer & the nobel prize winner Sir George Bernard Shaw should always be remembered that;
"Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.."

Water Rising... Hopes Drying! Our Race Against Climate Catastrophe; A Crisis Story of a Broken Sky.

  One can see from space how the human race has changed the Earth. Nearly all of the available land has been cleared of forest and is now used for agriculture or urban development. The polar icecaps are shrinking and the desert areas are increasing. At night, the Earth is no longer dark, but large areas are lit up. All of this is evidence that human exploitation of the planet is reaching a critical limit. But human demands and expectations are ever-increasing. We cannot continue to pollute the atmosphere, poison the ocean and exhaust the land. There isn’t any more available.             Stephen Hawking, Physicist & Author During my recent visit to Gilgit-Baltistan from June 28 to July 9, 2025, I had the chance to witness the changing climate firsthand. I traveled through KPK, Skardu, Gilgit, Nagar, Hunza, Naltar, Basho Valley, Soq Valley, Kharmang, Haramosh, Kachura, and, etc , navigating key routes including the Jaglot–Skardu Road (JSR), the...

Functional Depression: Silent Struggle Behind a “Normal” Life

  The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of the world but those who fight and win battles that others do not know anything about Jonathan Harnisch, The Brutal Truth Imagine waking up every morning, going through your entire day, attending meetings, cooking meals, helping your children with homework, replying to messages; all while carrying an invisible weight that makes everything feel harder than it should. You are doing everything right on the outside, but inside, there is a persistent emptiness, a fog that never quite lifts. This is functional depression. Functional depression, sometimes called high-functioning depression, is a form of depression where people continue to fulfill their daily responsibilities despite experiencing ongoing symptoms of depression. Unlike severe depression where someone might struggle to get out of bed or maintain basic hygiene, people with functional depression keep showing up. They go to work, attend family gatherings, and mai...

CPEC's Significance, Special Economic Zones in Pakistan & Risks of Chinese 'Debt-Trap Diplomacy'

  "Sustainable development is the pathway to the future we want for all. It offers a framework to generate economic growth, achieve social justice, exercise environmental stewardship and strengthen governance..." - Ban Ki-moon The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a significant infrastructure and economic development project that aims to connect Gwadar Port in southwestern Pakistan to China's northwestern region of Xinjiang. It is often referred to as a "corridor" because it consists of a network of roads, railways, pipelines, and other infrastructure projects that will facilitate trade, transportation, and economic cooperation between China and Pakistan. CPEC was officially launched in April 2015 when China and Pakistan signed various agreements to kickstart the project. It is part of China's broader Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which aims to enhance connectivity and economic cooperation across Asia, Africa, and Europe. CPEC involves the con...
